Following consultation with you, betsol will configure your data backups and advise you on managing & monitoring same.

WHY?

So, why do you need to backup your data? Well, data may be lost as a result of:

Computer's hard disk fails
Files are accidently deleted
Files become corrupted

WHAT?

Do you have information without which the running of your business would be impeded?

You will need to identify critical data. Do you run a payroll application? Do you run an accounts application? Do you have information relating to monies owed to you by individuals or companies?

WHERE?

Best practice dictates that a backup should be to removable media (Tape, CD-R, CD-RW, Portable Disks, etc.) in order that the backup data may be removed from the originating site. This protects against any catastrophe at the originating site.

Backups should never be made directly onto the same disk that the data is normally stored on (sometimes hard drives have partitions that exist on the same single hard drive - if this fails then any backups would also be lost!)
